Many couples want to make their marriage vows to each other in the sight of God, ask for God’ s blessing on their marriage, and be held in prayer by their family and friends as they make this life changing commitment to each other. Any one of our three beautiful churches is a stunning setting for this special ceremony, though St Paul’s only has room for small weddings. Depending on which church you select you can have music, bells, choir, organist and there are always flowers in the churches (though not in Lent or Advent) and we can put you in touch with our Flower Ladies. The priest who is conducting your wedding will meet with you to discuss your preferences, plan the service and help to structure the order of service for you to have printed.
Because your church wedding is a civil ceremony as well as a religious one, there are certain rules the church has to abide by. One or both of you should reside in the parish or you can provide evidence of what is known as a ‘qualifying connection’. Our Parish Administrator will let you know what these are. She will also help you with filling out the necessary forms.
It is possible for divorcees to be remarried in church at the discretion of the parish priest but currently it is not possible for same-sex couples to be married in church.
Church of England and local fees apply, and an up-to-date statement of fees is available from the Parish Administrator.
